Dog

Bodhidharma (Bodhi): Yellow Lab / Akita mix. We believe he is about five or six years old. He's my buddy and while he's a coward, he tries to act the part of household protector. Frankly, he's about the best companion and friend you could ask for.

Cats

Whisper: Used-to-be-male silver and gray Tabby  with serious psychological issues.

Nugget: First cat I've ever really had of my own. She's a rescue cat and a lover. Got her when she was maybe five weeks old, plucked off of the burning hot engine of a truck. We patched up her burned paws and singed face and she's been my little girl ever since.

Tabby: He's a pseudo-nutless orange and white tabby (surprise), the largest of the cats, and the most cowardly. He's definitely Anastasia's cat, and she affectionately refers to him as her cowardly lion.

Gypsy: She's a mottled tabby (white, brown, black ... ). She found us at Starbucks. Literally. There we were, sitting enjoying our coffee one night when this kitten comes strolling in the door and walks right up to Anastasia. No tags, and no one there claimed ownership. Anastasia, in turn, says to me "Well, I can't just toss her into the parking lot," and a decision was born ... one more cat in the family. We're now outnumbered 2:1

Birds

Oscar: Six year old Male Sun Conure who is largely hers as well. He was originally supposed to be mine, but he gravitated towards her more so there you have it: you don't pick pets, they pick you.

Cirrus: The Parakeet. Though he belongs to Anastasia, I've gotten rather attached to him lately. As much as Oscar is becoming hers, I think Cirrus is becoming mine. Frankly, it's all irrelevant as they are all ours.

Fish

Diddles & Diddles: It used to be three goldfish, but since Diddles died, Diddles and Diddles have been left all alone. We'll probably get another goldfish to fill out the trio soon. I think we'll name the new one Diddles. Diddles and Diddles currently have a place in Katy where they stayed when we moved to Grapevine and we visit occasionally.

Snake

Lysistrata: Named for the Greek pseudo-heroin (really, the main character in a comedy of the same name by Aristophanes), Lysi is my New Mexico Rosy Boa. About three feet long, she's nine years old and a complete sweetheart.

Dust Bunny

Buford: Buford is an American Standard Dust Bunny, and though his shape, size and color changes often, I'm sure he'll be around for a long time. We let him roam free around the house and he seems to get along with the rest of the pets, though Bodhi seems to be allergic.
